Puducherry Lieutenant Governor Iqbal Singh met Union Home Minister P Chidambaram to reportedly clarify his position on his alleged links to tax evader Hasan Ali. Lt. Governor Singh continues to remain defiant and has refused to resign over the issue.

Singh said: "I was questioned on the events of 1997. I told them, so, whatever papers I had, I showed them. When there is more clarity on it, I will talk about it." When asked if he would step down on moral grounds, the governor said, "I do not have a reply for such questions."
