News flash: The government says it objects to the CBI's decision to appoint senior advocate U U Lalit as Special Public Prosecutor in the 2G spectrum case.

This comes a few days after the CBI said it is willing to take over the investigation of Sadiq Batcha's death from the Chennai police after clearance from the Union government.

The Tamil Nadu government has already passed a notification to transfer the probe.

Batcha, a close aide of former telecom minister A. Raja, died in an alleged suicide at his home in Chennai on 16 March, allegedly over the 2G scam.
