Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh on Monday said that that there was no possibility of his contesting the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
"All speculation in the media about my contesting the elections is both baseless and meaningless," Singh told PTI from New Delhi.
Singh said that he was not contesting the polls in accordance with the announcement made by him before the December 2003 state assembly polls -- that he would not hold any post for 10 years if the Congress lost them.
Singh, who did not contest the last assembly elections held in November 2008, said that there was no pressure on him to contest the Lok Sabha pollss. Singh said that the media continues to indulge in speculation about his taking part in the polls even though he was not going to contest the elections.
