On January 27th, the Indian American Task Force comprising over 150 leaders from across the United States, and representing over 2.5 million people of Indian heritage living in America, will assemble in Washington, DC to meet lawmakers, in order to express their outrage over the recent terror attacks in Mumbai, and seek justice.
The entire world watched in horror as they saw these acts of brutal violence unfold on live television. The attacks, which started on November 26, 2008, and continued for three days killed 180 people, including 6 American citizens.
"We are here not simply to highlight terrorism directed against innocent civilians in India, but also because we believe that these developments in India represent a clear security challenge to the United States of America itself." said San Francisco-based Task Force joint coordinator, Mukesh Advani.
For the first time these terrorists originating from Pakistan killed many foreigners living in India, including Jews and other citizens of the United States and United Kingdom. "Americans, Britons and Jews living in or visiting India were specifically targeted," Advani said.
The Indian American Task Force believes that it is in America's own national security interest to ensure the elimination of terrorist training camps in Pakistan, the source of these attacks.
