In the midst of many rumours about his health, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh spent the day working from his home at 7, Race Course Road in New Delhi.
According to a source in Prime Minister's Office, Dr Singh has taken his medical condition in his stride. Dr Singh had undergone by-pass surgery some years back.
Speaking to rediff.com on condition of anonymity, a source known to the prime minister said he is not the kind of a person who "will worry about physical problems".
A senior Congress leader and member of the Congress Working Committee assured in a brief chat with rediff.com that Dr Singh will be present at the Republic Day parade on Monday.
Since last week-end Dr Singh was suffering from cold. He was feeling a little low due to the cold but on Tuesday evening he started feeling little uncomfortable too. When he shared his discomfort with others, doctors advised him to go for a complete medical check up.
As a result, PM was taken to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences. The PMO issued the press release on January 20 which stated that the Dr Singh, "visited AIIMS, New Delhi for an overall medical check up today. He is undergoing diagnostic tests, which will be completed tomorrow."
According to a reliable source close to him, the prime minister's heart has three blockages. It's found that one old blockage has reoccurred while two new blockages in his coronary arteries have been found.
As is known, Dr Singh is a diabetic and is living normal life with help of insulin for many decades. He is a Type A diabetic patient.
While dismissing the negative news about his health, the source said that for some physical problems it's the patient's aptitude that makes all the difference.
He insists that the decision on whether the PM needs by-pass surgery or angioplasty will be taken only after the R-Day parade.
On Thursday, Dr Singh has asked for all the files requiring his urgent attention from South Block to his residence and cleared them.
