Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who is being treated in AIIMS for chest infection, is making a steady progress, doctors attending on him said today.

"There is not much change since last night. But his pneumonia is under control and other parameters are all right," Dr Samapath Kumar, chief of Cardio Thoracic Vascular Sciences department at the hospital, told PTI.

An AIIMS statement said Vajpayee is still on mechanical ventilator. "He is still in ICU, his condition is stable and he is making steady progress."

84-year-old Vajpayee was admitted to the hospital following complaints of chest infection on the night of February 3. Doctors later found that he was suffering from pneumonia.

The veteran leader was put on ventilator support. However, after some days Vajpayee showed considerable improvement and his dependence on ventilator support has been further reduced.

His basic parameters like heart, kidney, liver and blood pressure were normal, Kumar said.
