Former Indian diplomats on Thursday, welcomed Pakistan's admission that the conspiracy for Mumbai attacks was partially hatched in that country and felt it was mainly due to international pressure garnered by India which should be maintained to take the matter to its logical end.

The diplomats said India should take Pakistan's response as a "first step" in the process of eradicating terrorism from
the country and continue to ask the international community to exert pressure on Islamabad to "come clean" on the issue.

"Pakistan finally responded only because pressure was growing on them to come clean on 26\11 attacks. So now we
should approach other countries to influence Pakistan to come clean," former Foreign Secretary Lalit Mansingh said.

Another former Foreign Secretary Shashank saw it as the beginning of Pakistan's response to India's dossier, but
warned that one has to be cautious while dealing with Pakistan  as it has "posed more questions than answering" the queries asked by India.

"It is just a beginning. It has taken 10 weeks for Pakistan to come back to us on the dossier. There are more questions than the answers," he said.
