A day after the NSG granted waiver to India on nuclear trade, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee said on Sunday that he will meet Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi in the capital on Monday.
"I welcome the Chinese Foreign Minister. We will treat him as an honoured guest," Mukherjee told reporters here. Jiechi will inaugurate the office of the consulate-general of the People's Republic of China in Kolkata on Sunday.
On the NSG waiver, Mukherjee said it had opened the door for civil nuclear trade with the international community. "I have issued a detailed statement last Friday addressed to all the 45 members of the NSG."
The minister said the Vajpayee government had declared a unilateral moratorium on nuclear testing. "Our government accepted that policy. This is our stated position," he said.
