The condition of Information and Broadcasting Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunsi, who was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi following a severe heart attack, has improved considerably, doctors said on Wednesday.

"He has shown considerable improvement. He is now completely off the ventilator and his respiration has returned to normal," Dr D K Sharma, Medical Superintendent, AIIMS, said.

However, Sharma said the minister is still not completely out of danger.

"He has still not regained consciousness and these improvements do not guarantee that he is completely out of danger. His vitals are stable, his BP, heart-rate and urine output are normal. His condition is as such that these improvements can worsen anytime," he said.

62-year-old Dasmunsi was on Wednesday taken out of ventilator after he was put on and off the life support system on Tuesday, said Dr V K Behl, HOD, Cardiology and heading the team of doctors looking into matters related to the minister's health.

Dasmunsi was admitted to the hospital late on Monday night with complaints of severe breathlessness and lung congestion.

Several Parliamentarians, including President Pratibha Patil and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, have visited the ailing minister in the past two days.
