Police vehicles -- jeeps, vans, trucks, ambulances with sirens wailing -- were all swooping down from every side and the taxi we were travelling in was ordered off the road by a frantic posse of policemen. The altercation continued violently as we moved a little ahead in the taxi and ducked for cover.
