The Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday asked the government to 'raise its voice' against the crackdown on Tibetan protesters by China and join the international community in urging Beijing to exercise restraint.
The main Opposition party also criticised the Communist Party of India-Marxist for 'remaining silent' on the incidents, saying the Communist party is always more bothered about China's interest than India's.
"In Lok Sabha, we raised the issue of Tibetans being massacred by China. But the Government reaction was not as expected," BJP's deputy leader in Lok Sabha V K Malhotra said.
He said India should join other world countries and raise the issue at the international fora and in the United Nations. "India should raise its voice," he added.
Malhotra accused the Government of taking lightly China's claims on Arunachal Pradesh and incursions by the Chinese Army into Indian territory. "Such acts embolden that country," he added.
Attacking the Left for remaining silent on the issue, he said Communists had not condemned China when it attacked India in 1962.
"Now also it is expectedly not condemning the Chinese acts. The Communist party is always more bothered about China's interest than India's," he said.
