Biggest anti-China demonstration in two decades
March 15, 2008
Protests in the remote mountainous region, one of the biggest in two decades against the Chinese rule, had erupted into violence with demonstrators clashing with the troops and going on the rampage, setting fire to shops and vehicles.
China said at least 10 people were killed in riots. "The victims are all innocent civilians and they have been burnt to death," an official with the regional government was quoted as saying by China's state-run Xinhua news agency.
