A Jamshedpur court on Thursday issued a warrant of arrest against chief of Maharashtra Navanirman Sena (MNS), Raj Thackeray for his alleged derogatory remarks on chhat festival, popular among North Indians, "hurting" the religious sentiments.
The court of 1st class judicial magistrate A K Tiwari has issued the bailable arrest warrant against Thackeray in connection with a petition lodged by a local lawyer Hameed Raza Khan.
Accusing Thackeray of hurting the religious sentiments of a section of society, Khan had filed the case under section 153 (rioting), 295A (a non-bailable section for hurting the religious sentiments) and 298 IPC.
