Mumbai: HDFC bank guard escapes with Rs 19 lakh

A gunman working with HDFC bank fled with Rs 19,50,300 cash at Kamlacity Complex N M Joshi Marg in south-central Mumbai.

The gunman Shafik Ahmed, 25, and the bank's cashier withdrew cash from the bank in order to deposit it in various ATM centres.

They left the bank at around 1100 hrs  in a Tata van and deposited partial amount in two ATM centres. The cashier went alone to deposit some amount of cash at the third centre leaving the guard alone in the vehicle with Rs 19,50,300 cash in the bag, when the accused fled with the cash bag.

The police have registered a case of robbery and investigation is on.
