The magic of Lohri

January 14, 2008
In Punjab, the festival is called Lohri and in Assam it is called Bhogali Bihu.

Huge bonfires are lit to celebrate Lohri. Friend and relatives gather together and throw sweets, sugarcane and rice into the bonfire.

The following day, which is Sankranti, is celebrated as Maghi. The Punjabis dance the Bhangra and eat sumptuous food that is specially prepared for the occasion.
