Fourteen people were injured, five of them critically, in a bomb blast triggered by suspected United Liberation Front of Asom militants at a market place near Tezpur police station in Assam's Sonitpur district on Wednesday afternoon.
Police said the bomb strapped to a bicycle, kept between a computer and a mobile shop at Bargolla Chariali, about 100 mt from Tezpur police station, exploded at around 2.45 pm.
The injured included three women and a 12-year-old boy.
Among the five critically injured, two of themĀ -- a father and a son -- have been shifted to Guwahati Medical College Hospital, while the others were taken to Tezpur Civil Hospital.
A blast has occurred in this relatively militancy-free district after a gap of nearly three years.
The last blast was triggered in 2005 near Ganesh Mandir in Tezpur in which an army official was killed and three persons were injured.
