Union Minister A R Antulay, who is in the eye of a storm over his controversial remarks about the killing of Maharashtra Anti-Terrorist Squad chief Hemant Karkare, on Tuesday refused to offer an apology.
Talking to media persons in New Delhi, Antulay denied having ever raised doubts on who killed Karkare.
The Union minister added that he will meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi in this regard.
Antulay asked leader of opposition L K Advani to prove that he was more patriotic than him. "Who is he to question my loyalty to the country," he retorted.
"This is a statement prepared by the home ministry. I had asked investigating agencies how and on whose information Karkare was told to head to Cama Hospital on November 26. There is no need for any further clarification," he said.
Antulay's remarks came shortly after Home Minister P Chidambaram, addressing the Lok Sabha, rejected his fellow Cabinet member's conspiracy theory and termed it as 'wrong and deeply regrettable'.
