External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Monday indicated in Rajya Sabha that he might make a statement on Union Minorities Minister Abdul Rahman Antulay's remarks on Tuesday, the last day of the current Parliament session.
The statement came after Bharatiya Janata Party members forced several adjournments.
Antulay kicked up a controversy four days ago when he said a thorough probe must the conducted on who called three of Mumbai's top police officers and directed them to the Cama Houspital, where they were killed by terrorists.
"The BJP demands Congress president Sonia Gandhi or Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to clarify the Congress stand," BJP spokesman Shah Nawaz Hussain said.
A senior minister of the UPA government said Antulay may have made the right point but he selected wrong angle. "He should have first praised Hemant Karkare who made the supreme sacrifice by laying down his battle with terrorists and then he should have asked the question," the minister, who did not want to be quoted, said.
