Praja Rajyam, the political party launched by Telugu mega star Chiranjeevi with much fanfare on Tuesday, has already run into rough weather.

The Election Commission has found several errors in the party's application seeking registration.

According to sources, there are several irregularities in Chiranjeevi's application. Instead of the 100 signatories of party workers required for registration, Chiranjeevi has enclosed just 88 applications. (The actor considers 8 as his lucky number, and so has submitted only 88 applications).

Moreover, Chiranjeevi's application doesn't have photocopies of the electoral photo identity cards of Praja Rajyam members, and they are not duly attested by a gazetted officer either.

The affidavits by Praja Rajyam workers have not been submitted on a stamp paper of Rs 2 denomination and are not duly sworn before a first class magistrate as required.

Worse, these affidavits are not from persons in respect of whom certified extracts of electoral rolls mentioned  above are being furnished.

Chiranjeevi has also enclosed a demand Draft of Rs 10,000 as processing fee for the registration of Praja Rajyam, drawn in favour of the Under Secretary, Election Commission of India, New Delhi.

On Thursday, the EC held an internal meeting to discuss Chiranjeevi's application to register the Praja Rajyam as a political party.

The EC intends to undertake another careful study on Friday and seek more details from Chiranjeevi about his party before going ahead with the application.
