Indian taxi drivers protest in Melbourne
April 30, 2008
Hundreds of taxi drivers, mainly Indians, blocked a central intersection in Melbourne on Wednesday protesting against a recent attack on one of their colleagues, an Indian taxi driver.
The taxi drivers formed a large circle at a main junction of tram lines, demanding more security. A 23-year-old Indian student, working as a taxi driver, was brutally stabbed and left bleeding on the roadside in the city's Clifton Hill area.
