Bharatiya Janata Party Vice President M A Naqvi has accused Home Minister Shivraj Patil of terrorizing people instead of chasing terrorists.
In his reaction to Sunday night's Ludhiana bomb attack, Naqvi rediff.com in New Delhi: "The Union government must give up soft policies towards terrorists and bring back laws like POTA to deal with them."
"Here is a Home Minister who is terrorizing the people of the country by going on record that the government has information about possible terror strikes during the festival season. He should have taken security measures that would have led to the arrest of terrorists before they could strike," the BJP leader said.
He also blamed the Congress government for giving room to terrorists to carry out their designs by adopting policies, which were favourable to those who believe in violence.
S S Ahluwalia, Rajya Sabha member from the BJP, did not think that the Ludhiana blast was targetted at Bihari labourers in Punjab.
"This is essentially a terrorist strike and let the state police investigate the matter and establish the identity of terror group behind it," said Ahluwalia.
BJP's muted response to terror incident has not come as a surprise, as it is part of the Prakash Singh Badal-led coalition government in the state.
