India will become a superpower in 2012
Bejan Daruwala

Popular Mumbai-based astrologer Bejan Daruwala, who is also a widely syndicated columnist, is a great believer in Lord Ganesha. This is what he had to say about India's future.

I worship the great lord Ganesha and I make my predictions with his blessings.

In the January 1990 edition of Eve's Weekly (a now defunct weekly magazine), I had predicted India will be a superpower in the 21st century.

In my book which was published this year (Daruwala publishes a book of predictions every year), I had said the good period starts from September 3. This means India's good period is in the offing; 2008 will be a very important year for India. It is clear that India is bound to be a superpower. In fact, by 2012, roughly speaking, India will be a superpower.

I go by Western astrology. If you look at India from that perspective, India is ruled by the sign, Capricorn. The planet Jupiter will come into the Capricorn sign in 2008. Jupiter means good luck, so I can confidently say the future is very, very good for India. I am not God, but I am confident India will come through very well.

Astrologically speaking, I am in favour of the nuclear deal. I am in favour for what will be good for my country. In Dr Manmohan Singh, we have a very good man, a man who deserves our respect, at the helm. At the same time, we need to be alert about our neighbour, China. Their president, too, is a Capricornian and he is a tough man.

We will also continue to well in cricket. Mahendra Singh Dhoni is a good and lucky captain. He has a cool temperament. If you look at the tarot cards, his reading shows a young prince riding a chariot. A chariot of that era is equal to the Mercedes Benz today.
