The 11 Indian officials of a steel company, abducted in Nigeria two days back, have been released.
The management officials of Ajay Kota Steel Plant, an affiliate of ISPAT, were abducted in Kogi state apparently by members of trade union and some "hooligans" after a dispute over wages, sources told PTI in Delhi on Thursday.
They were released after intervention by the Nigerian government, the sources said.
The abduction came just ahead of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's visit to Nigeria from Sunday.
The workers of the company have been demanding 15 per cent pay hike.
Kidnapping for ransom is common in oil-rich southern Nigeria. Most recently gunmen have been targetting the elderly relatives and small children of prominent Nigerians.
