I like Che Geuvara because he was one guy who took on the Americans across many countries.
He did not stop with just one country. In that period, whichever country's people were dominated by the imperial powers, he was there. He fought for them.
For me, that is the mark of a true revolutionary. It is not about just what you did for your country, but it is what you did for the downtrodden people as a whole. In that count, Che towers over lots of other leaders who restricted themselves to their countries.
Second, at the risk of sounding flippant, I think Che is a fashion icon too.
I disagree with those who say seeing Che as a fashion icon is trivialising the issue.
Though many people use Che's images without knowing who he is or what he means, there are quite a few who know about Che.
For these people, being seen in a Che T-shirt is means a lot. It really says a lot about the person.
