Neelam and Shekhar Krishnamurthy, who lost their son and daughter in the Uphaar fire tragedy and were instrumental in starting the Association of Victims of Uphaar Tragedy, were angry that the Ansal brothers had been let off easily in the case.
"They should have been booked under section 304 and not 304A as they deserved a harsher punishment. Perhaps in this country, death of a Chinkara is more important than the lives of 59 human beings where the minimum sentence is five years. As far as the other ten are concerned, it is the correct judgement," Neelam Krishnamurthy said.
Another man, who lost his 22-year-old daughter in the fire, said he would continue fighting for justice even if the Ansals were to approach the Supreme Court. "It is our promise to our children that we shall bring the culprits to book no matter how long it takes. We shall go to the Supreme court if necessary," he said.
The court will pronounce the quantum of punishment for those convicted on Wednesday.
