A Mumbai sessions court on Wednesday directed Haseena Parkar, sister of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, to appear before a metropolitan magistrate's court on Thursday and make an application for cancellation of a non-bailable warrant issued by that court.

The prosecution, too, could make an application for Haseena to be remanded to police custody before the same magistrate, Sessions Judge N D Deshpande said, adding that she should not be arrested during the pendency of her application.

However, Haseena would remain under police surveillance, the judge said.

With this, the judge disposed of Haseena's anticipatory bail application as she has been granted interim relief from arrest.

Haseena succeeded in dodging police here for over a fortnight following another court's directions that she be arrested in connection with an extortion case filed against her and others by estate agent Vinod Avlani.

She filed an application for anticipatory bail on Tuesday but Deshpande refused to entertain it without her being present in court.

Following this, the elusive Haseena appeared in the court at 5 pm on Tuesday. Since Tuesday evening, she has been under the surveillance of policemen camping outside her residence in Nagpada.
