Hundreds of Sikhs in Patna observed a one-day 'bandh' on Tuesday to express their solidarity with the Sikhs in Punjab who are protesting against the against Sirsa-based Dera Sacha Sauda, whose head priest Gurumeet Ram Rahim Singh allegedly imitated the tenth Guru Gobind Singh.
All the shops and business establishments belonging to Sikh community observed a one-day 'bandh'. Even schools and college run by the community remained closed.
"We have joined the bandh call by the Akal Takht, the highest temporal authority of Sikhism, to protest against the Dera Sacha Sauda's Gurumeet Ram Rahim Singh," said a spokesperson of the Takht Sri Prabhandhak Commitee at Takht Sahib premises in Patna.
Takht Sri Harimandirjee Patna Sahib is holiest place for the followers of the tenth Guru Gobind Singh.
