A Mumbai court on Thursday issued non- bailable arrest warrants against Haseena Parkar, sister of fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim, and four others in a case of extortion, forgery and cheating.

Mumbai police's anti-extortion cell investigating the complaint by real estate agent Vinod Avalani made an application before a sessions court, which issued the NBWs.

The warrants have been made out for the arrest of Parkar, her bodyguard Mohammed Shamim Khan, driver Salim Ahmed Sayyed, and builders Arshad Shafi Shaikh and Maqsud Fakir Mohammed Ansari.

Avalani filed a complaint against eight persons after a deal of redeveloping two slums in Central Mumbai went sour.

His FIR said the eight had failed to return Rs 30 lakh out of an advance of Rs 1 crore paid to them by Ravi Group of builders.

Two builders, Krishnamilan Shukla and his brother Sandeep, have already been arrested while the anticipatory bail plea of one Chandresh Shah, who played mediator in the deal, is before a local court.

The Shuklas were in need of finance for two redevelopment projects for which they entered the deal that soured later.

Haseena, who is said to have mediated the deal, allegedly told Avalani to 'forget' the Rs 30 lakh and threatened him with dire consequences if he persisted with his demand for return of the money.

Questioning if the Crime Branch was serious about the case, the local court had asked Mumbai police to arrest Haseena by May 16 and said a case of criminal intimidation, and not extortion, be made in the matter.
