Kapoor, who is board certified in internal medicine, geriatrics, and hospice and palliative medicine, graduated from the Boston University School of Medicine, completed his residency at Cedars Sinai in Los Angeles and earned a fellowship in geriatric medicine from the University of California, Los Angeles.
He quickly built his reputation in Los Angeles after he began practicing in the state about eight years ago. His peers also know Kapoor -- popularly known in Hollywood as Dr Sandy -- as a savvy businessman.
Kapoor is most disturbed that TMZ.com put out a video showing him with Smith at a gay establishment in West Hollywood in 2005.
'We've heard of patient/doctor privilege,' the celebrity network declared. 'But patient/doctor gay club groping?' The video showed Anna Nicole Smith on his lap.
Echoing her client's thoughts, Kapoor's attorney said: 'It is irrelevant whether he socialised with her on a single occasion in connection with a fundraising event. TMZ.com's description of that even is simply false.'
Candis Cohen of the Public Affairs Department of the Medical Board of California confirmed that Kapoor is practicing as before, suggesting the on-going investigation cannot be held against him.
"He has had his license since 1998; he is unrestricted and he has not been disciplined by our board," she told rediff India Abroad. "However, he is under investigation in reference to the death of Anna Nicole Smith."
"I am not aware of any other civil action that may be going on elsewhere," she said "We are a law enforcement agency. We normally don't discuss investigation. One of the reasons we're acknowledging this one is because it has received so much publicity."
But if the charges against Dr Kapoor swell he may face revocation of the license and more.
