Holi is also celebrated in a big way in Trinidad and Guyana. Indian migrants who went to these places as labourers in the early 20th century always celebrated the festival.
The festival flourished there and became naturalised as Phagwah -- at the Indo-Caribbean Hindu celebration of New Year.
The Phagwah parade in Richmond Hill is one of the biggest celebrations in North America. Last year, the event reportedly drew around 40,000 people. A similar turnout is believed to have been reported this time.
