Rath yatra in the middle of Manhattan

Curious onlookers and others stopped by various booths at Washington Square Park asking the volunteers questions about the Gita, reincarnation, vegetarianism and Hindu religion. Some asked about the various scandals including pedophilia that had plagued the movement about a decade ago.
"The festival is also meant to be an East-meets-West experience," said Chander, noting that Hare Krishnas from more than 30 countries and speaking as many languages would have been in New York for the annual event. "To some of the participants, it is also meeting with your spiritual brothers and sisters, and renewing their friendship."
"But the festival also celebrates the beauty of Eastern spirituality encountering 21st century New York City," Chander added.
