If it's politics, it has -- at some point -- to get down and dirty.
We've seen it in India -- Karnataka and Gujarat are the most recent examples -- and we are now seeing it in the United States and the race for the Presidential nominations hots up.
One of the fiercest battles is being fought by Democrat candidates Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, who seem to have left their rivals -- US senators Joe Biden, Christopher Dodd, Mike Gravel, US representative Dennis Kucinich and New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson -- far behind.
As the gap between the duo narrows, the number of personal attacks have increased (with, of course, the resulting consequences).
The latest casualty is Bill Shaheen, Hillary Clinton's New Hampshire co-chair.
Did you know? The US presidential election will be held on November 4, 2008; the contesting parties are expected to announce their candidates by February.
