The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh on Monday night said it will extend its support to Bharatiya Janata Party veteran Lal Kishenchand Advani, who was projected as party's prime ministerial candidate, while National Democratic Alliance allies like Janata Dal-United and Shiv Sena reserved their comment.

"Whatever decision is taken by the BJP, it has our support," RSS's Ram Madhav said.

Madhav told a TV channel there is "no question of giving our sanction or not giving our sanction."

JD-U, a key ally of the BJP, is expected to give its response on Tuesday.

"We will react tomorrow," JD-U chief Sharad Yadav told PTI in Delhi on Monday night.

Shiv Sena's reaction was not available yet.

BJP spokesman Prakash Javadekar, when asked if Advani's anointment had the backing of the RSS, said, "We are an ideological parivar (family). Once we take decisions it is the decision of everybody."

It may be recalled that the RSS had publicly disapproved of Advani's controversial remarks about the secular credentials of Pakistan's founder M A Jinnah and wanted him to resign as BJP president.
