The Supreme Court on Tuesday directed Delhi Police Commissioner K K Paul to personally appear before it on Wednesday for failing to provide adequate police protection for the sealing drive in the capital.
A three-member bench of Justices Arijit Pasayat, C K Thakkar and L C Panta also directed the MCD commissioner to file an affidavit as to why no sealing operation was being carried out in Delhi.
The bench passed the directions after taking a serious view of the submission made by amicus curaie (court officer) Ranjit Kumar's complaint that no sealing operation was being carried out in Delhi on account of the "collusion" between the MCD and the police.
The bench also directed the Solicitor General G E Vahanvati to file a reply as to how the Centre intends to provide infrastructural facilities to meet the requirements of the 2021 master plan.
