Socialite Bina Ramani, a key witness in the high-profile Jessica Lal murder case, will be taken to Goa on Monday night by Delhi Police in connection with the probe into the cheating and forgery case lodged against her.
The special investigating team, going into the murder, said they want to "recover the forged documents" she had allegedly furnished for procuring the license for running a restuarant in south Delhi. She will be taken to Mapusa town, some 8 km from Panaji, to seize the "fake ration card and other documents used by her," sources said.
A Delhi court on Monday extended by two days the police custody of Ramani, accepting the prosecution plea that she was not cooperating in the investigation.
Ramani owns a house and a boutique at nearby Candolim.
The Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate extended her police remand till September 13 as against the four days' extension demanded by the prosecution.
The prosecution claimed before the court that the investigation was getting affected because a number of Ramani's friends and relatives kept visiting her during the custody period.
She also refused to sign her discloure statement, the prosecution stated.
On September 4, the court had issued a non-bailable warrant against her, executable on or before September 15 on the prosecution allegation that she has not been joining the investigations and has been evading meeting with the investigating officer despite efforts to contact her.
Ramani was arrested by the Delhi police in Goa on September 6.
