A 26-year-old engineer from Kerala was shot dead by an unidentified person in Texas on Tuesday, family sources said.
The deceased, Sanal Nathan, was son of Commodore Ravindranathan, Deputy Director General (Navy) NCC, in Delhi.
His mother Valsala is a teacher in a Navy school and sister Sowmya is a medical student.
According to information received, the incident took place at 3.00 am IST on Tuesday when Sanal, along with his fiancee, was travelling in a car.
A man in an inebirated state stopped their vehicle and asked for money.
As Sanal was giving him some money, he was shot at. He was rushed to a hospital where he succumbed to injuries.
Sanal's wedding was to be solemnised in December.
