The Supreme Court-appointed monitoring committee on sealings has found a number of cases of non-compliance with the applications of over 18,000 traders stating they had stopped misuse of their residential premises.
The three-member panel, which was given time by the court till Wednesday evening to conduct random checkings of these premises, conducted inspections in West, North and East Delhi.
Panel members K J Rao, Bhure Lal and S P Jhingan inspected premises in Model Town, Colony Road and Wazirabad among other places, sources said, adding they found four traders in Model Town not complying with the fresh applications.
The panel, which had earlier conducted such checking in Greater Kailash, Lajpat Nagar, Karol Bagh and Vikas Marg, detected irregularities in other areas also, they said, adding that the panel, which submitted its report to the apex court later in the evening, is understood to have mentioned these irregularities in its report.
The court had on November 15 said that it will consider giving some relief to about 25,000 traders who have submitted an affidavit to voluntarily close their shops if they filed applications that they had stopped misuse of their residential premises.
The apex court on Monday asked the panel to submit a fresh report on the issue after giving the committee two more days to conduct random checks. Meanwhile, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi continued with its sealing drive targetting 176 illegal shops on Najafgarh-Nangloi road in West Delhi, taking the total number of such shops to 1,442 since the resumption of the action on November 8.
