The police have found the charred remains of an Indo-Canadian woman, Manjit Panghali, 30, on the seaside of Delta, British Columbia. The car she was driving in, a 2001 Honda Accord, was also recovered.

Manjit, 30, had been missing since October 17, when she went for a prenatal yoga class from her home in Surrey. She taught grade 1 at North Ridge Elementary School and was four months pregnant.

Her body was found October 23, said Constable Sharlene Brooks of the Delta Police.

"This type of crime defies comprehension and the value of human life," Constable Brooks said. "Mrs Panghali and her unborn child have had their lives taken prematurely and very tragically."

Panghali's husband, Mukhtiar Panghali, a physics teacher at Surrey High School, reported about his wife's disappearance 24 hours later. He said he had delayed calling the police because he first exhausted all possible sources looking for her, thinking she might have gone to stay with friends or family members overnight.

Mukhtiar said his wife was a happy person, and before leaving home said to him, "I'm going to prenatal class. Have fun. Will see you soon."
