A Group of Ministers headed by Home Minister Shivraj Patil has guaranteed that the urban development ministry and the Delhi Municipal Development Corporation will make a special mention before the Supreme Court on Thursday that the sealing operation cannot be carried out in Delhi because of the tense situation in the national capital.

Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy, Law and Justice Minister H R Bharadwaj, Delhi Lieutenant-Governor B L Joshi, Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dixit, Delhi Police Commissioner KK Paul and MCD chief Ashok Nigam attended the meeting.

Jaipal Reddy said the GoM met to take stock of the situation in the capital. Paul and Nigam informed the GoM that they had told the Supreme Court Monitoring Committee that the situation in Delhi is tense and hence the sealing could not take place Thursday onwards.

"Now it is up to the court to decide. We hope everything will be alright," Reddy said.
