Wanna shake hands with Rajinikant?
Says Tomy Joseph Netto, the public relations officer of the Wax Museum, "The museum is a success with the public. It has to be a success because it is unique."
A suggestion book is placed prominently at the museum so you can request who you would like to see at the museum when you come next. This is forwarded to an advisory board.
There is only one sculptor who works on these request. His name is Sunil Kandallore and he works in Kayamkulam, located in Alleppey district in Kerala. Thirty-three-year old Sunil's wax statues cost Rs 200,000 to Rs 250,000 and are made completely from wax
Netto says that even folks from London who have visited this museum have said that it compares very well with Madam Tussaud’s works.
A number of new statues have already been commissioned -- President APJ Abdul Kalam, Mother Teresa, MS Subbulakshmi, Sachin Tendulkar, the DMK President M Karunanidhi, Amitabh Bachhan and Sania Mirza.
The museum is small. You wonder how they will house so many celebrities. "Do not worry about space, we are adding two more floors." says the smiling general manager K Ramachandran.
They are all full of smiles around here -- the boy at the ticket counter, the girl at the reception, the guard who also acts
as your guide, the PRO and the GM. I guess anyone would be perpetually smiling if they could be around Rajinikant all the time.
