A Delhi court, on Monday, allowed Rahul Mahajan, son of late Bharatiya Janata Party leader Pramod Mahajan, who is being tried in a drug abuse case, to leave for Mumbai after July 31.

Additional Sessions Judge S N Gupta, disposing of an application moved by Rahul, permitted him to leave Delhi after July 31, observing that the defence had shown no other urgency before the date for the same.

The court said it had already granted him permission to go to Mumbai after July 31 or after the brain-mapping test, whichever is later. However, the test has now been stayed by the High Court.

In these circumstances, the order dated July 10 has been slightly modified, it observed.

Rahul had, on July 21, moved the city court, requesting permission to move to Mumbai under the changed circumstances of the Delhi High Court staying the brain-mapping test proposed to be done by police.

In the application, Rahul prayed for modification of the order dated July 10 partly allowing his plea to go to Mumbai subject to the condition that he could leave Delhi after July 31 when the test is completed.

Mahajan had stated that this court had made his leaving the capital subject to the brain-mapping test being done. He later filed a revision petition before the Delhi High Court which on July 20 stayed the operation of the order of this court dated July 10.
