All India Anna Dravida Kazhagam MP and actor S S Chandran on Tuesday surrendered before the Judicial Magistrate court in Madurai with his daughter Kanmani in connection with a dowry harassment case.
Chandran's brother's daughter-in-law Latha filed the case.
Latha married Chandran's nephew Dhanasekharan four years ago.
Latha had complained that her husband and six of his family members -- including Chandran and his daughter Kanmani -- had been torturing her for dowry and had even threatened to murder her.
Police filed cases against all the seven persons and arrested Dhansekharan and his sister Revathy.
On July 10, Chandran and Kanmani received conditional anticipatory bail from the Madurai bench of the Madras high court.
Chandran had said that cases have been filed only to victimise him and take political revenge.
