Indian Space Research Organisation Chairman G Madhavan Nair Thursday said an agenda is being worked out to discuss the Indian visit of US President George Bush in March with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Speaking to newspersons after presenting the golden jubilee foundation award of the Mysore University, he said there was no proposal now to send any Indian astronaut to space through the US.
However, it would be considered and high-level talks would be taken up with Dr Singh and others.
Earlier, speaking at the function, Mr Nair said the country, which stood second in terms of youth power, could achieve the numero uno position in the next five years if the youth were motivated in a systematic manner to face challenges. Universities had a vital role to play in this regard.
Varsity Vice-Chancellor J Shashidhara Prasad said on the occasion that the university would promote research in science and technology by sanctioning funds without waiting for grants from either the government or the University Grants Commission.
Those who take up research in science would be given Rs one lakh, while the amount would be Rs 50,000 for research in humanities.
