About 71 per cent of the 680 million eligible voters in the country have been issued the voter identity card with 100 per cent coverage in Kerala and Pondicherry.
More than 90 per cent coverage has been achieved in Lakshadweep, while it is over 80-90 per cent in Goa, Haryana, Karnataka, West Bengal and Andaman and Nicobar islands, an official press note said on Friday.
Between 70-80 per cent of the voters have been given the cards in Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Mizoram, Orissa, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu and Daman and Diu.
The extent of coverage in other places is Assam (0.45 per cent), Chhattisgarh (69.19 per cent), Jammu and Kashmir (50.41), Jharkhand (59.97 per cent), Manipur (0.17 per cent), Meghalaya (54.17 per cent), Nagaland (69.57 per cent), Tripura (66.99 per cent), Uttar Pradesh (56.04), Uttaranchal (69.84 per cent), Chandigarh (53.53 per cent), Dadra and Nagar Haveli (66.23 per cent) and Delhi (66.33 per cent).
