Union Minister of State for Home Sriprakash Jaiswal on Monday said the documents produced by Samajwadi Party parliamentarian Amar Singh were 'forged' and alleged that he (Amar Singh) wanted to politicise the entire matter.
Addressing newspersons in Mumbai, Jaiswal said the Delhi police was probing the matter and three people had already been arrested in this connection. More arrests may take place in this regard soon.
Questioning the 'motive' of Amar Singh, Jaiswal said the former should have lodged a first information report with the police first before moving the Supreme Court on the issue.
"It is the duty of a person to file an FIR first in such serious matters, but no FIR was lodged by Amar Singh on the issue," Jaiswal observed.
Referring to the allegations of phone tapping by some other prominent political figures like Opposition leader L K Advani, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalitha and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Jaiswal said no political leader had lodged an FIR so far.
"All this has created an unhealthy political situation in the country as some politicians are trying to get mileage without following the path of law," the minister said.
