Ruling out an alliance with either the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam or Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam-led Democratic Progressive Alliance for the coming Tamil Nadu assembly polls, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday said it was firm on its decision to go it alone in the elections.

Senior BJP leader and former Union Minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy, who was recently made in charge of the party's affairs in the state, told reporters in Chennai that people were desperate for a change of government and wanted to get rid of both the AIADMK and DMK. The BJP, he said, was their alternative.

He said intense rivalry between the AIADMK and the DMK was standing in the way of the development of the state. Coming down heavily on the AIADMK government, he said it was inconsistent and had reversed several decisions taken by it earlier.
