Blast in OIL pipeline, 100 evacuated

A blast took place in an Oil India Limited pipeline resulting in oil spill in Upper Assam's Golaghat district late Tuesday night and forcing evacuation of 100 people from a village, OIL sources said.

The blast, which occurred due to a technical snag, set off oil spillage over a three km radius area that spread to Rajabari village, sources said.

The authorities evacuated 100 people from the village, the sources said, adding that OIL engineers had rushed to the area.
