Manu Sharma's life has come full circle within the space of a year with the Delhi high court on Wednesday giving him a life imprisonment term for murdering model Jessica Lal merely 10 months after a lower court acquitted him of the same crime.

Manu. 34, remained silent on his acquittal on February 21 by the trial court, but he had probably not thought that the wheels of fate would make a 180-degree turn and he would find himself again behind bars.

Manu, who is likely to spend the coming years inside the high security Tihar jail, accepted the sentence as part of his destiny.

'This was in my fate. This was decided by destiny,' a close friend Manu as saying soon after the sentence was delivered.

Manu's conviction has also affected the political career of his father Venod Sharma, who has had to resign as a minister in the Haryana government.
