Speaker Somnath Chatterjee on Monday accepted the resignation of Bharatiya Janata Party parliamentarian Navjot Singh Sidhu from the Lok Sabha.
Sidhu, convicted in an 18-year-old road rage case, gave a fresh one-line resignation letter on December 2 after the Speaker rejected his first letter on the grounds that it was not submitted in the proper format.
The Speaker informed the House that he was accepting Sidhu's resignation with effect from Monday.
