Surat's Agony

August 11, 2006
Jyotindra Vyas is facing a depression because he has become homeless since last Monday. His row-house in Chandan park, Adajan area of Surat has gone under. His friend in the municipal corporation was kind enough to alert him on Monday morning about the danger, and he shifted to a friend's home in a high-rise building.

He asked, "Why do you build dams? The idea is to control the flow of water. If you can't do that, what's the idea of having dams?"

He told rediff.com, "I feel as if we are living in the medieval age."
